About Our Jewelry
Our jewelry is not like the sterling jewelry you often see. It is not lightweight or paper-thin. Instead it has a pleasant weigh, and a sturdy thickness. We do not believe in scrimping on materials or labor to produce a cheaper product.
Our jewelry designer, Robert Spickard, using the ancient and venerable lost wax process, creates work that is noted for its high quality and meticulous finishing. Original designs include fantasy pieces and his interpretation of ancient or antique pieces. Jewelry in our Historical Gallery is reproduced from European, Asian or American antique pieces ranging from buttons to sword fittings, all adapted to beautiful jewelry.
All jewelry on our web site is either solid bronze or solid sterling silver. Bodice lacers are solid brass. All are manufactured and cast by human hands in the Fresno area (no, we don't actually cast in our storefront, landlords get unhappy about one flinging molten metal about).
Many of our designs can be purchased set with semi-precious stones. If there is something you are interested in, please e-mail or write for availability and price.
All pendant loops are soldered shut. All pendants come with an adjustable silky cord. All sterling earrings come with sterling silver ear wires.
Wholesale inquiries welcome.
What are Runes? What are Rune pendants?
Runes are a third to twelfth century northern European alphabet. Several Scandinavian and Germanic language groups used this form of writing, just as today many European language groups use the same alphabet as we do.
The original people who used Runes usually did not have paper, but carved their letters on wood or stone. In this tradition, Robert Spickard has carved Runes into his one-of-a-kind Rune pendants.
Over the centuries, many people have credited magical abilities to Runes. Even today there are people who use Runes to foretell the future.
Our rune pendants are all individually made, one of a kind pieces. They are made of solid bronze or solid sterling silver and set with real stones. The runes used are Anglo-Saxon Futhorc. Anglo-Saxon often used masculine or feminine endings on their words. This is why a pendant will say either Male Teacher or Female Teacher.
Each rune pendant comes with a descriptive card.
